It's seems like it wasn't too long ago that some cable news guy was spouting off about the uprisings in the Middle East spreading, creating chaos, and becoming very anti-American and violent. Oh right, that was Glenn. After another U.S. embassy came under attack in the Middle East today, Glenn wondered how anyone could be surprised that Obama’s foreign policy could lead to major problems for our national security.
Glenn heavily criticized President Obama for having come out in support of the Arab Spring in 2011, and claimed that the events that unfolded during the Arab Spring led to the rise of radical Islam in the Middle East.
"Really? That was the judgment that you had? You guessed wrong, sir. And you know what's amazing? You weren't guessing. You had the greatest advisors, all of the greatest intel people in the United States of America and all over the globe telling you, and you took their advice. This (Arab Spring) is going to be great," Glenn said.
But now Obama doesn't seem to think that the Muslim Brotherhood-controlled Egypt is an ally.
In an interview, President Obama said:
I don't think we would consider them an ally but we don't consider them an enemy. They are a new government that is trying to find its way. They were democratically elected. I think that we are going to have to see how they respond to this incident or how they respond to, for example, maintaining the peace treaty in Is ‑‑ with Israel. So far at least what we've seen is that in some cases they have said the right things and taken the right steps; in others how they responded to various events may not be aligned with our interests.
"I just want to remind you, Mr. President, that when you got into office, Egypt was an ally. They weren't a good guy, we don't really like them, but they were an ally. They kept the peace in the region. It was your brainstorm to destabilize and support the destabilization," Glenn said.
"We now have three embassies, three. Where do you think it stops? The United States of America did not defend its sovereign soil. They killed an ambassador and two Marines and they didn't defend their sovereign soil! The first thing they do is apologize to the Muslim extremists. And he waits. And he waits. And he waits," Glenn added.
Glenn also criticized President Obama for not being alerted during the night that the ambassador had been killed.
"He goes to bed. He doesn't get a briefing until he wakes up the next morning. Who's going to answer the phone at 3:00 a.m.? Not Barack Obama. He unplugs it. My gosh," Glenn said.
